Blog #8 - due Wednesday, April 27
Dear students,
Thank you for your excellent comments on the last blog. This last one will also be about Curious Incident, and will also give you some practice with past modals. Here is the question:
It is clear to all of us that Christopher's parents made many mistakes, both with him and with each other. They probably have many regrets. In your opinion, what could or should they have done differently? What do you think they wish they had or had not done?
As usual, please respond to these questions and to each other's answers as well.
Thanks,
Diana
In my opinion , I think Christoper's mother did bad choice when she a banded him. Because in his age ,children need both of their parents next to them as possible;Specially mothers. She should took Christoper with her, also that he wasn't a normal kid. Moreover, his father did bad choice when he lie to Christoper about his mother. He should told him the truth from the beginning. Also, His father knows his son and his situation and how he hates laying. I think his father didn't told him about his mother because he was angry that she left him to marry another guy. He should think twice before telling a lie.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you. His mother should not have left him. I understand how stressful to grow a autistic kid. However, if she love Christopher little more than herself, she would not discard Christopher with his father.
DeleteIt is clear that Christopher's parents made mistakes.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, when they discovered the nature of their son, Christopher, the solution was not in the mother abandoning him to look for peace with another man. Again, that was the only son they both had. No matter his problem, parents will never want to abandon their children, not to talk of the only child.
Again, the father did not need to pour his venom on Wellington. That was not where the solution to his problem lay. The very fact that the two parents of Christopher were unfaithful to each other was where the fundamental problem was. I would not have seen my child's solution in infidelity. A child is a child, and needs both parents to be balanced. They both acted extremely, which made Christopher's problem to get worse with time.
They would have wished that they never separated from the beginning. That is where the problem in handling Christopher got worse. It led to high sense of distrust by Christopher. It made the father to lie to him about mother's death which was shocking to the boy.
REATION TO ENAS' WORK.
Enas is very correct when she mentioned that the choice of the mother to abandon the child and go after another man was bad. That was going overboard on the issue. Abandoning your child for the luxury of another man is bad and highly condemnable. on the whole, the father made a better effort towards Christopher than the mother. But thank God she later thought wise to return to him at the end.
In my opinion, Christopher's mother should not have left Christopher to London. His father should not have lie to Christopher that his mother died. His parents should not have complained each other. I believe, if they have encouraged each other when they felt stress of some Christopher's behavior, they would have more patient to rise Christopher and get energy from each other.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, the father shouldn't lie to Christopher, because he should know what will make his son feel not safe. He also shouldn't kill the dog. Even the father told the trues to Christopher, he may still feel dangerous. For Christopher, he became a dangerous person who may kill or hurt him any time. Anyway, the dog is innocent.
ReplyDeletethe mother shouldn't left her son, because she always miss him and wrote letter for him every week. She also shouldn't start relationship with Mr. Shears, and finally she know Mr.Shears is a wrong guy. He is so selfish. He took the mother of the poor children who has problem and needs care. He also doesn't want to live with her son. That is so mine for a mother.
The parents doesn't deal with Christopher's problem. They should find way to help him walk out from his own world. I know many autistic children become more and more good from age and people's help. But Christopher's condition is so sad. He can't integrate into the society, and communicate with normal people. He may have big problem after he graduate from school. in the end of the story, the father gives Christopher a dog to accompany with him. I think he should have done this earlier.
