Dear students,

Today's topic will be exercise and health. Please consider these questions:

1. What do you do to stay healthy?
2. Do you eat healthy foods? If so, what kinds?
3. Do you exercise? If so, what kinds of exercise do you do? Do you enjoy it?

  1. I care about my diets, exercising, sleeping early, and surround myself with positivity; this is how I think people can stay healthy. I do eat healthy foods by trying to add a lot of vegetables in my diet since I don't eat fruits as much. I also try to keep myself away from sweets and desserts. decreasing the amounts of carbohydrates is a good thing to do although it is not easy. I really like eating rice, so it is challenging for me sometimes. I am planning to join a gym these days to exercise at least three days a week. In fact, we do exercise everyday from using the steps in the subway instead of the elevator so this is considered as exercising too. Walking for long distances is exercising too, especially here in NYC. I enjoy it because it does not seem that you are forcing yourself to do exercising. It comes without consciousness or realization.

  2. 1. I sleep early at night, and have a nap at middy if it's possible. I really about my diets, and I don't eat the things with a lot of fat. I do exercise during do the housework.
    2, In aspect of eating, I insist to cook by myself, and every meal has 3 dishes and one soup at least. I think have a balanced diet is important for healthy. I use fruits as the snacks after meal. I also eat one small square of dark chocolate everyday to reduce my risk of blood pressure and heart disease, because my grandma has heart disease. I don't like to eat sweet things. Like a lot of Chinese, I also drink hot water to promote my blood circulation.
    3, My favorite sport is ride bike. I enjoy to ride it outside.I can't stand exercise in the gym, but I think it may more interesting if I exercise with my friends.

    1. Piaoyan, I agree with you about taking naps. I take short ones ( about 5 or 10 minutes) in the late afternoon almost every day.After that I feel great!

  3. 1. What I do to stay healthy is that I eat good food, eat with caution and exercise on daily basis. These give me good health.

    2. I take very healthy food at all times. I take breakfast, compulsorily before 8.30 am with fruits and much water. Then, take much vegetable with some soup in the afternoon. Then, east something either for dinner with meat or fish, depending on daily menu in the house. In the midst of these, I avoid preserved food and keep my food very fresh and natural. I take a lot of water, too.

    3. I exercise daily, no matter how brief. It keeps me at ease. I do a lot of jogging in the morning shortly after taking a glass of water. Sometimes, I jog for 30 minutes or more. I enjoy it a lot. It has become a part of my life routine.

    REACTIONS:
    I love the sense of having a positive mind that Wasmia talked about on her post. It id a form of exercise on its own.

    Again, Pioayan talks about another touching aspect of exercise which is going to sleep on time,so as to gain enough rest needed to keep strong the following day. She is correct talking about the need to avoid fatty food.

  4. I always eat healthy food and drink a lot of water . Also, I always avoid eating unhealthy food that affect my body. For example : junk food, soda , and artificial sweets . Moreover, I do a lot of exercises like squat and walking in the park. Eating health food can be the main reason for living longer and being in a good shape .

    1. Drinking water is one of the most important things that we have to care about in our diets. They say sometimes when you feel bungry and want to eat, it is actually you are thirsty. And I also heard that there are applications that you can upload in your cell phone that remind you of drinking water.

  5. Dear students,

    I also believe in the importance of both diet and exercise. My 2 favorite exercises are Pilates and swimming. i really prefer swimming, but I don't like to swim even indoors at this time of year. We have a gym in out building, and I go there about once a week. I don't like it, but it's better than nothing. As Wasmiah said, as New Yorkers we get lots of exercise without even trying!

    We can't control our heredity, but we can control what we eat and how we exercise. These are good ways of taking care of ourselves.
