1. Democratic and Republican parties are two powerful political parties in USA. Democratic beginning in 1824. Republican beginning in 1854. Democratic party can trace its roots back to Thomas Jefferson. The symbol of Democratic party is a donkey, because of Thomas Jefferson's position of "let the people rule". During the civil war, a rift grew in the party between the people who opposed slavery and who supported slavery. This divergence created a new party: Republic party. Represented by Abraham Lincoln, Republican party hated slavery and end slavery. During the civil war, the political status had been consolidated. The symbol of Republic is a elephant. Although the two parties are the most important political party, they have differences base on their politics opinions.
ReplyDelete2. I will choose to join in Democratic party. I prefer the political ideas of Democratic. I think the ideas of Democratic are serve people more than advantage government. ex, for health care, democratic believe the government should regulate the health care system enable to popularize health care system to everyone. But Republican opposed that because they think that will increase cost of healthcare industry. I won't say the idea of Republican is wrong, but I know a part of people in US can't afford the costs of health care. government should find way for those people.
3. I don't know a lot about those candidates, I just know their name and a lot things about them. For example, I noted Ben Carson because he is the only black in those people. I know he is a retired neurosurgeon. He is one of candidates of Republican. He was graduated from Yale University and Michigan medical school. He worked very hard during his study and career. He also is a subject in a film.
4. I really don't know a lot about them. Donald Trump is the hot topic of the election campaign recently. I think he has business experience because he is a business man who achieved accomplishment. He has money to support himself during the campaign. But he also is pompous, and boast himself excessiverly. He looks like a exaggerator, so I don't believe his words. I felt he takes his business game plan to the politic. I think he is a successful business man and a socialite. But may not a good choice for president.
she gave very clear idea and she express her opinion very well. I think her opinion on Donald Trump is true and i totally agree with her .
Delete1. From history, Democratic Party in the United States is one the two major parties. It was founded around 1828 and is the world's oldest party, as it were. The first Democratic President of the United States was Andrew Jackson. And the last is the current President, Barrack Obama. The party has gotten 15 presidents elected on that platform. Their philosophy is built on social and economic equality.
ReplyDeleteAgain, the Republican party is the second of the two major parties in the United States. It was founded by Anti-slavery activists in 1854. They have dominated the political history nationally and in the majority of the northern states. 18 Presidents have been elected on its platform beginning from Abraham Lincoln in (1861-1865) to George W. Bush (2001-2009). The Republican party preaches the concepts of Conservatism.
2. I would choose the Democratic party.
REASONS: I believe in the philosophy of liberalism which actually happens to be the proclamation of the American constitution. Again, they are a more friendly party in the modern time to immigrants, and we know that America is greatly built on the strength of immigrants. Hence, the party founded on the principle of freedom.
3. What I know about the current candidates is that they all belong to either of the political parties, seeking votes for the office of the president of the United States.
For instance, the two candidates for the Democratic Party are:
HILLARY CLINTON from New York State.
BERNIE SANDERS from the State of Vermont.
Again the candidates for the Republican party are:
JEB BUSH from Florida State.
BEN CARSON from Maryland State.
TED CRUZ from Texas State.
JIM GLIMORE from Virginia State.
JOHN KASICH from Ohio State.
MARCO RUBIO from Florida State.
DONALD TRUMP from New York State.
4. Among them all, I have chosen HILLARY CLINTON as my preferred candidate.
Strengths:
(a) I believe with the husband by her side, having won the world's reputation as past president, Hillary can do well.
(b) Given her experiences in politics (First Lady of USA, Senator, Secretary of States, Clinton's Foundation), she will greatly understand the rubrics of governance.
(C) I support the idea that a woman should also be given a chance, especially, proven with past records like Hillary Clinton. People should not be judged by gender, but strength of character.
(d) Her party's philosophy is liberalism, social welfare and justice. Hillary Clinton has the capacity to lead the US with this philosophy.
Weakness: She could get proud, if not checked. She is ambitious, too.
REACTION ON PIAOYAN:
I can see in Piaoyan's presentation that the Republicans had a good reason for founding the party when she gave the concept of the party's symbol-DONKEY. it was intended to make the people rule. But are they really keeping to that symbol today? Are they keeping to that original struggle to outlaw slavery? are they protective of immigrants in the modern time? I do not think so, though.
Piaoyan gave a perfect picture of the person of Donald Trump.
One quick comment: the donkey was - and is- the symbol of the Democratic Party. The elephant was - and is- the symbol of the Republicans.
DeleteVery thoughtful and wonderful comments so far!
D.
I'm strongly agree with your perspective about Hillary Clinton. Women should get a chance to show their abilities. I believe women can do as well as men.
DeleteI didnt know about the different between Democratic and Republican parties, but I search for it on google. First of all, Democratic party was created in 1848 and it was known as Jefferson’s Republicans, refers to the president Thomas Jefferson's. They adopted the donkey as a symbol. It was between the people who disagree with slavery and those who dosent mind about it.On the other hand, Republican party the elephant is their symbol . It came into existence just prior to the Civil War. Also, it become official when they nominee Abraham Lincoln was elected as President of the United States. In my opinion , I didnt know what to choose because i didnt konw what the important of those parties. I didnt have this in my country so it is hard for my to choose. The current candidate some of them are good and the others are not. I dont like Donald Trump and Ben Carson I think they are racists . We are in 2016 and their is people like this .Both of them talk about Muslims as bad people and this is wrong , they should be more educated about it and they cant generalize among all . I think they should be exclusion from the election .
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that Donald Trump is racist against muslims and this is wrong. Generalization is not right. A lot of muslims have done so many good things to the USA.

DeleteEnas, thank you for researching the history of the donkey and the elephant. I did not know this before! I agree with your comments about Trump and Carson too.

Republicans believe that taxes should not be increased for anyone at all including the rich. Democrats believe in progressive taxation which means that more wealthy people should be taxed accordingly. They also believe in more government regulation and believe that the government should be more active in our lives. The Senate leader for the Democrats is Harry Reid and the Senate leader for the Republicans is Mitch McConnell.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to choose, I would choose neither and be labeled as an independent because I may like ideas from both parties and will vote for whoever I think would do the best job.
I know that Hillary Clinton, despite being a woman, is not favorite among young female voters. Based on watching the news, I have also known that Donald Trump is constantly questioned for his political allegiance and is very vocal about his ideas. Ted Cruz has been called a liar recently due to his actions thus far.
Donald Trump has many strengths and one of them is telling it like it is. He does not believe in political correctness and wants to place America back at the top again. One of his weaknesses is that he is racist which can affect his votes. I would not vote for him or anyone else as of now because I am still learning about them.
